BNV : একটানা তিন বছর অনাবৃষ্টির পর প্রভু এলিয়কে বললেন, “আমি আবার শীগ্গিরই বৃষ্টি পাঠাবো| যাও গিয়ে রাজা আহাবের সঙ্গে দেখা করো|”
KJV : And it came to pass [after] many days, that the word of the LORD came to Elijah in the third year, saying, Go, shew thyself unto Ahab; and I will send rain upon the earth.
YLT : And the days are many, and the word of Jehovah hath been unto Elijah in the third year, saying, `Go, appear unto Ahab, and I give rain on the face of the ground;`
RV : And it came to pass after many days, that the word of the LORD came to Elijah, in the third year, saying, Go, shew thyself unto Ahab; and I will send rain upon the earth.
RSV : After many days the word of the LORD came to Elijah, in the third year, saying, "Go, show yourself to Ahab; and I will send rain upon the earth."
ASV : And it came to pass after many days, that the word of Jehovah came to Elijah, in the third year, saying, Go, show thyself unto Ahab; and I will send rain upon the earth.
ESV : After many days the word of the LORD came to Elijah, in the third year, saying, "Go, show yourself to Ahab, and I will send rain upon the earth."
ERVEN : During the third year that no rain fell, the Lord said to Elijah, "Go meet with King Ahab, and I will make it rain."

BNV : এলিয় তখন আহাবের সঙ্গে দেখা করতে গেলেন|সে সময়ে শমরিয় শহরে দুর্ভিক্ষ চলছিল|
KJV : And Elijah went to shew himself unto Ahab. And [there was] a sore famine in Samaria.
YLT : and Elijah goeth to appear unto Ahab. And the famine is severe in Samaria,

BNV : রাজা আহাব তাই ওবদিয, য়ে প্রাসাদ রক্ষনাবেক্ষণ করত তাকে ডেকে পাঠিয়েছিলেন| ওবদিয প্রকৃত অর্থেই প্রভুর অনুগামী ছিলেন|
KJV : And Ahab called Obadiah, which [was] the governor of [his] house. (Now Obadiah feared the LORD greatly:
YLT : and Ahab calleth unto Obadiah, who [is] over the house -- and Obadiah hath been fearing Jehovah greatly,
RV : And Ahab called Obadiah, which was over the household. (Now Obadiah feared the LORD greatly:

ERVEN : So King Ahab told Obadiah to come to him. Obadiah was the man in charge of the king's palace. (Obadiah was a true follower of the Lord.

BNV : এক সময়ে ঈষেবল প্রভুর সমস্ত ভাববাদীদের হত্যা করতে শুরু করেছিলেন| ওবদিয 100 জন ভাববাদীকে দুটি গুহার মধ্যে 50 ভাগের দুটি দলে লুকিয়ে রেখে ছিলেন এবং নিয়মিত তাদের খাবার ও জল এনে দিতেন|
KJV : For it was [so,] when Jezebel cut off the prophets of the LORD, that Obadiah took an hundred prophets, and hid them by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water.)
YLT : and it cometh to pass, in Jezebel`s cutting off the prophets of Jehovah, that Obadiah taketh a hundred prophets, and hideth them, fifty men in a cave, and hath sustained them with bread and water --

ERVEN : One time when Jezebel was killing all the Lord's prophets, Obadiah hid 100 prophets in two caves. He put 50 prophets in one cave and 50 prophets in another cave. Then he brought them food and water.)

BNV : রাজা আহাব ওবদিযকে বললেন, “চলো, আমরা বেরিয়ে সমস্ত ঝর্ণা আর নদীগুলোতে গিয়ে দেখি আমাদের ঘোড়া আর খচ্চরগুলোকে বাঁচিয়ে রাখার মতো ঘাস পাওয়া যায় কি না|”
KJV : And Ahab said unto Obadiah, Go into the land, unto all fountains of water, and unto all brooks: peradventure we may find grass to save the horses and mules alive, that we lose not all the beasts.
YLT : and Ahab saith unto Obadiah, `Go through the land, unto all fountains of waters, and unto all the brooks, if so be we find hay, and keep alive horse and mule, and do not cut off any of the cattle.`
RV : And Ahab said unto Obadiah, Go through the land, unto all the fountains of water, and unto all the brooks: peradventure we may find grass and save the horses and mules alive, that we lose not all the beasts.
RSV : And Ahab said to Obadiah, "Go through the land to all the springs of water and to all the valleys; perhaps we may find grass and save the horses and mules alive, and not lose some of the animals."

ERVEN : King Ahab said to Obadiah, "Come with me. We will look at every spring and every stream in the land. We will see if we can find enough grass to keep our horses and mules alive. Then we will not have to kill our animals."

BNV : দুজনে দুটি অঞ্চল ভাগ করে নিয়ে সারা দেশে জলের খোঁজে বের হল| আহাব গেলেন এক দিকে আর ওবদিয গেল আরেক দিকে|

BNV : ওবদিযর সঙ্গে পথে এলিয়র দেখা হল| এলিয়কে দেখেই ওবদিয চিনতে পারল এবং তাঁর সামনে নতজানু হয়ে জিজ্ঞেস করল, “এলিয়! সত্যিই কি আপনি আমার সেই মনিব?”
KJV : And as Obadiah was in the way, behold, Elijah met him: and he knew him, and fell on his face, and said, [Art] thou that my lord Elijah?
YLT : and Obadiah [is] in the way, and lo, Elijah -- to meet him; and he discerneth him, and falleth on his face, and saith, `Art thou he -- my lord Elijah?`
RV : And as Obadiah was in the way, behold, Elijah met him: and he knew him, and fell on his face, and said, Is it thou, my lord Elijah?
RSV : And as Obadiah was on the way, behold, Elijah met him; and Obadiah recognized him, and fell on his face, and said, "Is it you, my lord Elijah?"

ESV : And as Obadiah was on the way, behold, Elijah met him. And Obadiah recognized him and fell on his face and said, "Is it you, my lord Elijah?"
ERVEN : As Obadiah was walking along the road by himself, he looked up, and there was Elijah. Obadiah recognized him and bowed down to show his respect. He said, "Elijah? Is it really you, master?"

BNV : এলিয় বললেন, “হ্যাঁ, আমি এসেছি| যাও তোমার রাজাকে এ খবর জানাও|”
KJV : And he answered him, I [am:] go, tell thy lord, Behold, Elijah [is here. ]
YLT : And he saith to him, `I [am]; go, say to thy lord, Lo, Elijah.`
RV : And he answered him, It is I: go, tell thy lord, Behold, Elijah {cf15i is here}.
RSV : And he answered him, "It is I. Go, tell your lord, `Behold, Elijah is here.'"

ERVEN : Elijah answered, "Yes, it is me. Now, go and tell your master, the king, that I am here."

BNV : তখন ওবদিয বলল, “আমি যদি আহাবকে বলি য়ে আপনি কোথায আছেন আমি জানি তাহলে আহাব আমাকে মেরে ফেলবেন| প্রভু আমি তো আপনার কাছে কোনো অপরাধ করি নি, তাহলে আপনি কেন আমাকে মৃত্যুর মুখে ঠেলে দিচ্ছেন?”
KJV : And he said, What have I sinned, that thou wouldest deliver thy servant into the hand of Ahab, to slay me?
YLT : And he saith, `What have I sinned, that thou art giving thy servant into the hand of Ahab -- to put me to death?
RV : And he said, Wherein have I sinned, that thou wouldest deliver thy servant into the hand of Ahab, to slay me?
RSV : And he said, "Wherein have I sinned, that you would give your servant into the hand of Ahab, to kill me?
ASV : And he said, Wherein have I sinned, that thou wouldest deliver thy servant into the hand of Ahab, to slay me?
ESV : And he said, "How have I sinned, that you would give your servant into the hand of Ahab, to kill me?
ERVEN : Obadiah said, "If I tell Ahab that I know where you are, he will kill me! I have done nothing wrong to you. Why do you want me to die?

BNV : রাজা পাগলের মতো উন্মত্ত হয়ে প্রভু, আপনার ঈশ্বরকে খুঁজে বেড়াচ্ছেন, চতুর্দিকে আপনার খোঁজে লোক পাঠিয়েছেন| প্রত্যেকটা দেশে তিনি আপনাকে খুঁজতে লোক পাঠিয়ে ছিলেন এবং সেখানে আপনাকে পাওয়া না গেলে আহাব সেখানকার শাসকদের কাছ থেকে প্রতিশ্রুতি আদায করেছেন, য়ে সত্যি সত্যিই আপনি সেই সব দেশে নেই|
KJV : [As] the LORD thy God liveth, there is no nation or kingdom, whither my lord hath not sent to seek thee: and when they said, [He is] not [there;] he took an oath of the kingdom and nation, that they found thee not.
YLT : Jehovah thy God liveth, if there is a nation and kingdom whither my lord hath not sent to seek thee; and they said, He is not, then he caused the kingdom and the nation to swear, that it doth not find thee;
RV : As the LORD thy God liveth, there is no nation or kingdom, whither my lord hath not sent to seek thee: and when they said, He is not here, he took an oath of the kingdom and nation, that they found thee not.
RSV : As the LORD your God lives, there is no nation or kingdom whither my lord has not sent to seek you; and when they would say, `He is not here,' he would take an oath of the kingdom or nation, that they had not found you.
ASV : As Jehovah thy God liveth, there is no nation or kingdom, whither my lord hath not sent to seek thee: and when they said, He is not here, he took an oath of the kingdom and nation, that they found thee not.
ESV : As the LORD your God lives, there is no nation or kingdom where my lord has not sent to seek you. And when they would say, 'He is not here,' he would take an oath of the kingdom or nation, that they had not found you.
ERVEN : As surely as the Lord your God lives, the king has been looking for you everywhere. He has sent people to every country to find you. He even made the rulers of those countries swear that you were not there.

BNV : আর এখন আপনি আমাকে বলছেন, রাজার কাছে গিয়ে আপনার এখানে থাকার খবর দিতে|
KJV : And now thou sayest, Go, tell thy lord, Behold, Elijah [is here. ]
YLT : and now, thou art saying, Go, say to thy lord, Lo, Elijah;
RV : And now thou sayest, Go, tell thy lord, Behold, Elijah {cf15i is here}.
RSV : And now you say, `Go, tell your lord, "Behold, Elijah is here."'
ASV : And now thou sayest, Go, tell thy lord, Behold, Elijah is here.

ERVEN : Now you want me to go and tell him that you are here!

BNV : আমি গিয়ে রাজা আহাবকে একথা বলার পর, রাজা যখন আপনাকে খুঁজতে আসবেন তখন হয়তো প্রভু আপনাকে অন্য কোন জায়গায় নিয়ে গিয়ে লুকিয়ে রাখবেন আর আপনাকে খুঁজে না পেয়ে রাজা আমাকেই তখন হত্যা করবেন| আমি সেই ছোটবেলা থেকে প্রভুকে অনুসরণ করে চলেছি|
KJV : And it shall come to pass, [as soon as] I am gone from thee, that the Spirit of the LORD shall carry thee whither I know not; and so when I come and tell Ahab, and he cannot find thee, he shall slay me: but I thy servant fear the LORD from my youth.
YLT : and it hath been, I go from thee, and the Spirit of Jehovah doth lift thee up, whither I know not, and I have come to declare to Ahab, and he doth not find thee, and he hath slain me; and thy servant is fearing Jehovah from my youth.
RV : And it shall come to pass, as soon as I am gone from thee, that the spirit of the LORD shall carry thee whither I know not; and so when I come and tell Ahab, and he cannot find thee, he shall slay me: but I thy servant fear the LORD from my youth.
RSV : And as soon as I have gone from you, the Spirit of the LORD will carry you whither I know not; and so, when I come and tell Ahab and he cannot find you, he will kill me, although I your servant have revered the LORD from my youth.
ASV : And it will come to pass, as soon as I am gone from thee, that the Spirit of Jehovah will carry thee whither I know not; and so when I come and tell Ahab, and he cannot find thee, he will slay me: but I thy servant fear Jehovah from my youth.
ESV : And as soon as I have gone from you, the Spirit of the LORD will carry you I know not where. And so, when I come and tell Ahab and he cannot find you, he will kill me, although I your servant have feared the LORD from my youth.
ERVEN : If I go tell King Ahab that you are here, the Lord might carry you away. Then when King Ahab comes here and cannot find you, he will kill me! I have followed the Lord since I was a boy.

BNV : আপনি নিশ্চয়ই জানেন, আমি কি করেছিলাম| ঈষেবল যখন প্রভুর ভাববাদীদের হত্যা করছিলেন, আমি তখন তাদের 50 জন করে দুভাগে মোট 100 জন ভাববাদীকে দুটো গুহায লুকিয়ে রেখে নিয়মিত খাবার ও জল দিয়েছিলাম|
KJV : Was it not told my lord what I did when Jezebel slew the prophets of the LORD, how I hid an hundred men of the LORD’S prophets by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water?
YLT : `Hath it not been declared to my lord that which I have done in Jezebel`s slaying the prophets of Jehovah, that I hide of the prophets of Jehovah a hundred men, fifty by fifty in a cave, and sustained them with bread and water?

ESV : Has it not been told my lord what I did when Jezebel killed the prophets of the LORD, how I hid a hundred men of the LORD's prophets by fifties in a cave and fed them with bread and water?
ERVEN : You heard what I did. When Jezebel was killing the Lord's prophets, I hid 100 of them in caves. I put 50 prophets in one cave and 50 prophets in another cave. I brought them food and water.

BNV : আর এখন আপনি আমাকে রাজার কাছে গিয়ে বলতে বলছেন, য়ে আপনি এখানে আছেন| রাজা সঙ্গে সঙ্গেই আমাকে হত্যা করবেন|”
KJV : And now thou sayest, Go, tell thy lord, Behold, Elijah [is here:] and he shall slay me.
YLT : and now thou art saying, Go, say to my lord, Lo, Elijah -- and he hath slain me!`

ERVEN : Now you want me to go and tell the king that you are here. The king will kill me!"

BNV : এলিয় তখন বললেন, “সর্বশক্তিমান প্রভুর উপস্থিতি য়েরকম সত্য, আমিও সেই রকমই প্রতিশ্রুতি করছি য়ে আমি রাজার সামনে আজ দাঁড়াব|”
KJV : And Elijah said, [As] the LORD of hosts liveth, before whom I stand, I will surely shew myself unto him to day.
YLT : And Elijah saith, `Jehovah of Hosts liveth, before whom I have stood, surely to-day I appear unto him.`
RV : And Elijah said, As the LORD of hosts liveth, before whom I stand, I will surely shew myself unto him today.
RSV : And Elijah said, "As the LORD of hosts lives, before whom I stand, I will surely show myself to him today."
ASV : And Elijah said, As Jehovah of hosts liveth, before whom I stand, I will surely show myself unto him to-day.
ESV : And Elijah said, "As the LORD of hosts lives, before whom I stand, I will surely show myself to him today."
ERVEN : Elijah answered, "As surely as the Lord All-Powerful lives, I promise that I will stand before the king today."

BNV : ওবদিয তখন রাজা আহাবকে গিয়ে এলিয় কোথায আছে তা জানাল| রাজা আহাব এলিয়র সঙ্গে দেখা করতে গেলেন|
KJV : So Obadiah went to meet Ahab, and told him: and Ahab went to meet Elijah.
YLT : And Obadiah goeth to meet Ahab, and declareth [it] to him, and Ahab goeth to meet Elijah,
RV : So Obadiah went to meet Ahab, and told him: and Ahab went to meet Elijah.
RSV : So Obadiah went to meet Ahab, and told him; and Ahab went to meet Elijah.

BNV : আহাব এলিয়কে দেখে প্রশ্ন করল, “তুমিই কি সেই লোক যার জন্য ইস্রায়েলের এই দুরবস্থা?”
KJV : And it came to pass, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said unto him, [Art] thou he that troubleth Israel?
YLT : and it cometh to pass at Ahab`s seeing Elijah, that Ahab saith unto him, `Art thou he -- the troubler of Israel?`
RV : And it came to pass, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said unto him, Is it thou, thou troubler of Israel?
RSV : When Ahab saw Elijah, Ahab said to him, "Is it you, you troubler of Israel?"
ASV : And it came to pass, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said unto him, Is it thou, thou troubler of Israel?
ESV : When Ahab saw Elijah, Ahab said to him, "Is it you, you troubler of Israel?"
ERVEN : When Ahab saw Elijah he said, "Is that really you, the troublemaker of Israel?"

BNV : এলিয় উত্তর দিলেন, “আমার জন্য ইস্রায়েলের কোনো দুর্দশাই হয় নি| তুমি ও তোমার পিতৃপুরুষরাই এজন্য দাযী| তোমরা প্রভুর আদেশ অমান্য করে মূর্ত্তির পূজা শুরু করেছ|
KJV : And he answered, I have not troubled Israel; but thou, and thy father’s house, in that ye have forsaken the commandments of the LORD, and thou hast followed Baalim.
YLT : And he saith, `I have not troubled Israel, but thou and the house of thy father, in your forsaking the commands of Jehovah, and thou goest after the Baalim;
RV : And he answered, I have not troubled Israel; but thou, and thy father-s house, in that ye have forsaken the commandments of the LORD, and thou hast followed the Baalim.
RSV : And he answered, "I have not troubled Israel; but you have, and your father's house, because you have forsaken the commandments of the LORD and followed the Baals.
ASV : And he answered, I have not troubled Israel; but thou, and thy fathers house, in that ye have forsaken the commandments of Jehovah, and thou hast followed the Baalim.
ESV : And he answered, "I have not troubled Israel, but you have, and your father's house, because you have abandoned the commandments of the LORD and followed the Baals.
ERVEN : Elijah answered, "I have not made trouble for Israel. You and your father's family caused all the problems when you stopped obeying the Lord's commands and began following the false gods.

BNV : এখন ইস্রায়েলের সবাইকে কর্ম্মিল পর্বতে আমার সঙ্গে দেখা করতে বলো| বালদেবের 450 জন ভাববাদী ও রানী ইষেবল সমর্থক আশেরার মূর্ত্তির 400 জন ভাববাদীকেও য়েন ওখানে আনা হয়|”
KJV : Now therefore send, [and] gather to me all Israel unto mount Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the groves four hundred, which eat at Jezebel’s table.
YLT : and now, send, gather unto me all Israel, unto the mount of Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the shrine, four hundred -- eating at the table of Jezebel.`
RV : Now therefore send, and gather to me all Israel unto mount Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the Asherah four hundred, which eat at Jezebel-s table.
RSV : Now therefore send and gather all Israel to me at Mount Carmel, and the four hundred and fifty prophets of Baal and the four hundred prophets of Asherah, who eat at Jezebel's table."
ASV : Now therefore send, and gather to me all Israel unto mount Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the Asherah four hundred, that eat at Jezebels table.
ESV : Now therefore send and gather all Israel to me at Mount Carmel, and the 450 prophets of Baal and the 400 prophets of Asherah, who eat at Jezebel's table."
ERVEN : Now tell all the people of Israel to meet me at Mount Carmel. Also bring the 450 prophets of Baal and the 400 prophets of the goddess Asherah that Queen Jezebel supports."

BNV : আহাব তখন সমস্ত ইস্রায়েলীয় ও ঐসব ভাববাদীদের কর্ম্মিল পর্বতে ডাকলেন|
KJV : So Ahab sent unto all the children of Israel, and gathered the prophets together unto mount Carmel.
YLT : And Ahab sendeth among all the sons of Israel, and gathereth the prophets unto the mount of Carmel;
RV : So Ahab sent unto all the children of Israel, and gathered the prophets together unto mount Carmel.
RSV : So Ahab sent to all the people of Israel, and gathered the prophets together at Mount Carmel.

BNV : সমস্ত লোক এ ঘটনা দেখে মাটিতে হাঁটু গেড়ে বসে বলতে শুরু করলো, “প্রভুই ঈশ্বর| প্রভুই ঈশ্বর|”

BNV : এলিয় তখন বললেন, “বাল মূর্ত্তির সমস্ত ভাববাদীদের ধরে নিয়ে এসো| একটাও য়েন পালাতে না পারে|” তখন সবাই মিলে ঐ সমস্ত ভাববাদীদের ধরে নিয়ে এল| এলিয় তাদের কীশোনের খাঁড়িতে নিয়ে গিয়ে হত্যা করলেন.
KJV : And Elijah said unto them, Take the prophets of Baal; let not one of them escape. And they took them: and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon, and slew them there.

BNV : পরপর সাত বার একই ঘটনা ঘটার পর সাতবারের বার সেই ভৃত্য এসে বলল, “মানুষের হাতের মুঠোর মতো ছোট্ট এক টুকরো মেঘ দেখলাম সমুদ্রের দিক থেকে আসছে|”এলিয় তাঁর ভৃত্যকে বললেন, “যাও রাজা আহাবকে তাঁর রথ প্রস্তুত করে বাড়িতে য়েতে বলো কারণ এক্ষুনি রওনা না হলে ও বৃষ্টিতে আটকে যাবে|”
